Love Your Library Challenge Announcement

We are already a week into the month and I have decided to start a reading challenge... fool.

There have been so many reading challenges going around lately and I really wanted to participate in one. When I saw this reading bingo sheet in my local library today I knew that I could have fun with it. This is not my document, it is made by Hampshire library service. Although you can not use their services outside of Hampshire, their resource is great for any library.
This challenge is pretty straightforward. Each book you read, you cross off and try and make lines like a normal game of bingo. I have decided my own rules, but it is really not too complicated.

You might be wondering why I decided to begin the challenge now and not just to wait until next month. The answer is that I don't go to university until next month meaning that other than work I have no other commitments and so I have the best chance of doing a decent job of this challenge (at least, I hope so). I haven't yet decided whether I will carry it into September to make it a complete month's challenge.

The rules:

1. As this challenge is to celebrate libraries, all the books to fit the prompts must be borrowed from a library
2. You can not use the same book for multiple prompts
3. A row can go horizontally, vertically or diagonally

The reading prompts:

1. A book recommended by library staff
2. A book with a number in the title
3. The first book of a series
4. Listen to an audiobook (you can use Borrowbox for Hampshire libraries, research if there is a service for your local library)
5. Free space- choose anything you want
6. The first book by your favourite author
7. A book from a genre you wouldn't normally read
8. A book recommended by a friend or family member
9. A funny book
10. A book of short stories
11. A book from the FastBack shelf (this is a shelf of new releases which you only have 2 weeks to read and can not renew as they are in high demand. If this doesn't exist, ask the library what is the newest book they got)
12. A book with your favourite colour on the front
13. A book based on a true story
14. A book that won an award
15. A book published this year
16. A non-fiction book

Obviously it is extremely unlikely that I will be able to fill the whole card, but my personal target is to fill two rows.
Fell free to join in. Stuck for a place to start? Prompt 2 - The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (It's our August book of the month)!

  2. Wow, you created this post quickly! I probably won't participate because I know I'll fail and that's just not good for my self esteem XD
